The Leave a Legacy of Oswego County Steering Committee was founded to promote the concept of planned giving in the Oswego County area. Leave a Legacy has a sixteen year history as a community-based program designed to help people learn about charitable giving through a will or estate plan. Leave a Legacy does not directly solicit gifts. Instead the program is a cooperative effort to educate community members as well as legal and professional advisors as to the importance and impact of charitable planned giving in our County. Leave a Legacy of Oswego County is funded by dues from its member organizations.
If only 20 percent of Americans left a charitable bequest, the current number of charitable bequests would more than double. Imagine what the impact to charitable organizations would be if the 80 percent of Americans who give during their lifetimes also made a charitable gift through their estate plans!
